Historic Pocono Lake Cemetery

This burial ground has served the community since the Civil War era.  It is the final resting place of the men and women who built the communities of Pocono Pines, Pocono Lake and surrounding areas.  Some worked in logging, ice harvesting or farming.  Some founded schools, churches, businesses or resorts.  Some fought our nation’s wars.   All shared our  love  of  this  beautiful area on the Pocono Plateau.

The oldest known interment is Emanuel Miller, a casualty of the Battle of Antietam in 1862.  Eight other Civil War veterans are buried here as well.

Pocono Lake Cemetery is currently managed by a non-profit organization dedicated to maintaining its beauty, tranquility and simple elegance.  Families can find quiet comfort laying their loved ones to rest in this historic spot, home to over 1,100 burials.  The Cemetery is non-denominational, and all people are warmly welcomed.
